Cold Fashioned

This weeks episode of #someonesaycocktails is a take on a drink I’ve put on many menus, this one is spun up for game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. Let’s go Mavs.

If you’ve seen these post you know we’re gonna dive into the history of something, tonight it’s the history of: Caffé Borghetti.

Caffé Borghetti’s story starts in the same time as the unification of Italy in 1860. Ugo Borghetti owner of Caffé Sport, wanted to create a special product to commemorate the inauguration of the Pescara-Ancona railway line. The winning combination of alcohol and coffee was incredibly popular on the train route with passengers, so popular it quickly spread throughout all of Italy and Europe. Today, it’s one my favorite cocktail ingredients & a must have any home bar for its quality, & versatility.

The simple yet refined: Cold Fashioned

This recipe was
2 Oz rye whiskey (I used Rittenhouse)
1.5 Oz Caffé Borghetti Italian espresso Liquore
0.5 Oz Giffard Vanilla (not pictured)
2 dashes 20% saline solution (not pictured)
2 dash Fee Bros black walnut bitters
2 Ango bitters

Combine all ingredients in a mixing vessel, add ice, stir for 20 revolutions, strain over large ice cube in a rocks glass
Garnish with an expressed orange peel.

**Optional float with your favorite bourbon creme to make it a dessert***
